An avowed modernist, award-winning international designer Michael Gottschalk, founder of Blu Bathworks, designs five-star hotels, boutique resorts and contemporary, environmentally respectful custom homes throughout North America, Asia and Europe. He conceives his modern bathware, and his building commissions, with a thoughtful eye for the smallest detail, the most perfect scale, and enduring quality.
His esthetic was forged during studies of architecture and landscape architecture and practical experience in design and development of projects around the world. He then embarked on an international design career that took him from his native Canada to Europe, South America and Asia.
His residences, honored by the Urban Development Institute, have won a Gold Georgie Award as well as several Canadian Home Builders' national SAM awards. Condé Nast Traveler selected Gottschalk's deluxe resort Abacá on Mactan Island in the Philippines for its 2009 Hot List of Hotels.
As his global practice grew, one frustration Gottschalk faced was specifying contemporary bathware only to have clients veto his selections due to "stratospheric" prices. Hating to see them compromise their taste, he founded Blu Bathworks to create attractively priced, architectural-quality bathware.
